Christian Aid Service 2015

Holmfirth Methodist Church celebrated Christian Aid’s 70th Birthday last Sunday with a challenging, informative and prayerful service which was followed by tea, coffee and buns beautifully decorated by the children in Junior Church. The service was led by Kath Beetlestone who introduced DVD clips from Christian Aid about the desperate plight of women in Ethiopia and how Christian Aid are helping. Loko walks 8 back breaking hours a day collecting firewood to earn £1 which is barely enough to feed her children.

Lent Course

Lent Course

All are invited to follow a Lent Course based on the film "The Way" - a powerful and inspirational story about family and friends as well as the challenges we face while navigating this ever changing and complicated world.

The film will be shown on Tuesday Feb 24th here at 7.30.

Suspended Coffees

A new idea to consider supporting: 'Suspended Coffees' involves people entering a coffee shop and purchasing two coffees, one for themselves and one that is suspended for someone who can't afford to purchase their own.

The idea is not just aimed at helping the homeless, but also those who may find themselves out of work and broke, or the impoverished elderly coming into town for a warm and friendly place to sit etc.

The Street Child World Cup

The circuit are promoting this project and is encouraging us to watch the DVD "Africa United - Anything is Possible" which is 84 mins. long, very entertaining and promoted by Comic Relief.

The Church has a DVD, currently with Peter Beetlestone, which can be borrowed to view at home or at housegroup, it is anticipated that those viewing the DVD will feel inspired to donate to the project for the 2014 World Cup.

Please give any donations to Peter Beetlestone or Michael Tolson.

Christian Aid Advent Journey

If you have any donations for Christian Aid from your "Advent Journey" (See previous article), could you please give it to Kath or Peter Beetlestone at Holmfirth Methodist Church, and it will be forwarded to Christian Aid along with the Carol Singing money.

Thank you.
